Convention drinking: plan the night, keep the badge

Convention drinking has its own logistics: a hotel-room pour, a meetup, a late event, and a panel you meant to attend in the morning. Track the actual drinks across the night rather than treating each new room as a fresh start.

For the Dragon Con group chat

If your Dragon Con or other convention plans include alcohol, settle the practical details before the costumes are on: who has the room key, where the group will meet, and how everyone is getting back. Keep the current event and hotel rules handy.

Drunk Maxxing is an independent fan-oriented calculator, not an official Dragon Con tool or event guide. Check the organizer’s official site for policies and schedules. We do not publish room-party listings or claim permission to bring drinks into an event.

The hotel-room pour problem

A mixed drink’s cup size does not tell you its alcohol content. Two fl oz of 40% spirit contains about 1.3 US standard drinks before any mixer is added. Record the measured spirit separately if you do not know the finished cocktail’s ABV; do not also log the same alcohol as a second mixed drink.

For a shared bowl, write down the recipe and serving volume. The Concoction’s preset is only an illustration. It is not a measurement of whatever the group mixed in the hotel room.

Midnight does not reset the session

The calculator uses minutes from session start rather than calendar dates. If your first drink is at 10 p.m. and another is at 1 a.m., the second entry belongs at 180 minutes. Changing rooms or crossing midnight does not reset the modeled alcohol already present.

The drink-entry timeline is limited to 18 hours. It is not a multi-day convention simulator. Starting a fresh session the next morning does not establish that alcohol from the previous night has cleared.

Leave space for tomorrow’s panel

Standard and Advanced modes let you enter intended sleep and the gap between the last drink and sleep. These are inputs to an unvalidated score, not promises about how rested you will be.

The original Concoction story is about getting friends together. Keep the drink clearly labeled, keep water bottles separate, and make it easy for someone to choose an alcohol-free evening. The badge is expensive enough without making every night a side quest.

Questions from the group chat

Is Drunk Maxxing affiliated with Dragon Con?

No. Dragon Con is mentioned as an example of the conventions our adult audience enjoys. This is an independent site; official event rules and schedules come from the organizer.

Can I calculate a whole convention weekend at once?

No. The calculator accepts drink entries over an 18-hour timeline. It does not simulate a multi-day weekend or prove that a new day begins at zero BAC.
